Nautical

Is it just me or are nautical sweaters everywhere right now?

I agree with Seventeenth and Irving’s author, we don’t necessarily need to jump on board with each trend that rolls through town. I’ve been saying for YEARS that attractive should always come before cool. Classic cuts and neutral solids are always in style. Simplicity is never wrong. Less is more. Etc.

MOTTO

My motto.

But embellishment can be really fun, and I’ve seen some great examples of the nautical sweater. This is also a trend that comes back in style every 5 to 10 years, so investing in a piece you love can be worthwhile.

The whole nautical theme is not exclusive to sweaters, to be fair. It’s on tank tops, and jewelry, men’s ties… anchors in fashion right now are like Frank’s Red Hot.

I decided it wasn’t something I was exceptionally interested in, but I do have a small crush… so I opted for the extremely affordable and playful option from Forever 21. I’ve worn it a couple times now and people laugh and call me “Capitan!” It’s worth every bit of $20, I’m happy with the purchase.

Are you planning on wearing the nautical trend this year?

I’m a pragmatic romantic who finds myself decorating things, places, friends and inevitably myself. I love color, texture, and shiny things. I’m a talker. I’ve been an avid traveler and the giver of travel, dating, and fashion advice to my circle of friends for 2 decades. My goals are conversation, creativity, connectedness, exploration, and finding beauty to appreciate. Posts go up a couple times a week. Drop by, leave a comment, I’d love to hear your thoughts.
